How many times have you lamented the areas that you feel you lack in life? Have you allowed yourself to feel like a victim because of the circumstances that surround you?

If you’re like most people, you probably find yourself nodding in agreement to these questions. For some reason, we tend to focus on what we don’t have and desire rather than what we’ve been give and should celebrate.
Today’s quick story is about someone who has mastered the skills and abilities that he was given to become an inspiration and a joy to all of those people around him. What’s most striking is not the exceptional and amazing talent that this young man possesses, but the attitude and grace with which he moves forward in his life.
I’d like you to meet Patrick Henry Hughes. Patrick is an inspiration and you’ll love this video. I’d imagine you’ll have tears in your eyes as his story resonates a truth that we all admire and seek to live in our lives as well. But I’d also like to recognize his supporter as well. Just like all successful people, Patrick is surrounded by a team that supports him and helps him to achieve greatness in his life.
Isn’t this guy amazing? Such a great attitude looking through a lens of possibility and thankfulness in everything that he does. And watching his dad push him around the field in that wheelchair! I love the line where his dad says “I’m just too slow on that turn….” working so hard to help his son perform at a high level and show that anything is possible.
And some of the credit goes to Dad Hughes too. Working graveyard at UPS four days a week and then coming home for a few hours sleep before getting out and supporting his son in the marching band but in his university classes as well. That’s a clear indication that this family has determined to win. They can’t be held down by what some would see as a debilitating situation.
When I was looking at YouTube to share this video, I found another one showing the family arriving back at their home after a visit from Ty Pennington and the Extreme Home Makeover team. I’m sure they are enjoying their new home and I congratulate and thank them for setting such a fine example!
Dad Hughes, is an inspiration to me. Working at nights and being a father is huge.
You’re right Ron. Investing time with family is one of the most important things in life. It’s so cool to see how excited they are as a family in support of Patrick. Plus, that support from the people who care about each of us is what lifts us to our highest potential.
Thanks for the comment!
