A large emphasis is placed on finding the right keywords and phrases to focus on with a content marketing campaign. You may have already spent ample time researching different words and phrases that you feel will provide you with the best overall return on investment. Now that you have those words, however, you might not know how to properly incorporate them into your marketing efforts so that they produce the results you desire.

Search for Relevant Topics Online

With many keywords and phrases, there are a wide range of relevant topics that others could be searching for online. For example, you may be focused on puppies and dogs, and there are countless relevant topics associated with canines. Everything from basic puppy care and training to finding a kennel to use when you are on vacation, caring for an older dog and choosing a great vet can be considered. You can search for various topics by searching for the most basic form of your keywords in a search engine.

Listen to Your Customers

Your customers should also be able to give you some great topic ideas. Listen to their complaints, concerns and common questions. You can then incorporate some of these topics they generate for your marketing material, articles, blog posts and more. These can be fascinating, insightful pieces that are truly beneficial for your customers to read, and they also can boost rankings and give you other related benefits.

Consider Long-Tail Keywords

Long-tail keywords typically have three or more words tied together. They are commonly searched for phrases, but they are often less frequently searched for than the base or single word in the phrase. These long-tail keywords might be topics in themselves. For example, “how to train a dog” may be a long-tail keyword as well as a full topic idea. When these are used appropriately in your marketing efforts, you could generate a response from a more focused, targeted audience. This can be beneficial for generating a better return on investment.

Keyword research is important, but there is more to content marketing than simply selecting the right keywords to focus on. You also must come up with new topics related to those keywords, and the topics should be relevant or interesting to your target audience. When you follow some of these tips, you may be able to realize improved results from your online marketing efforts.
